Houston Dial Defeats David Lambert for First Race Tech Mad Dawg Win; Gun Slinger Andy Beal Scores First Heads-up Victory Over Jamie Chappell. Rick Whaley Scores Bad 16 Door Win, Chris Warren Takes TOP Door win and Young Gun Jonathan Gibbs Picks up First Foot Brake Win in the 1st annual DOOR Carpalooza

The
Race Tech Race Cars Mad Dawgs and “ALL DOORCARpalooza” headline
the action this past Saturday night at Mooresville Dragway. A
large crowd was on hand to witness Houston Dial from Rowland, NC
defeat local favorite David Lambert of Kannapolis, NC for the
Race Tech Mad Dawg victory. Dial driving the #1 Stunna Chevrolet
Cavalier ran a 4.26 ET at 163.83 MPH to stop the “Junkyard Dog”
Lambert in his Chevrolet Camaro. Lambert set LOW ET of the met
with a 4.20 ET 171 MPH charged past Chad Tilley of Lexington, NC
in the semi-final round.
Dial
defeated two time Race Tech Mad Dawg winner Rocky Raynor of
Greensboro, NC in the other semi-final round match up. There was
a record twenty four cars attempting to qualify for the elite
quickest eight Mad Dawg positions. In the special second
Quickest 8 race (for non qualifiers) Andy Beal of Thomasville,
NC picked up his first ever heads-up Quick 8 victory. The “Gun
Slinger” Beal, driving his Chevrolet Camaro ran a 4.38 ET at
162.31 MPH to defeat Jamie Chappell of Boonville, NC for the 2nd
8 Mad Dawg win. James Bunton of Statesville, NC in a Chevrolet
Corvette and Ron Whitlock of Mocksville, NC in a Pontiac
Firebird finished in the semi-finals.
In
the all door car racing action, Rick Whaley of Reidsville, NC
captured the Bad 16 Doors win over Chris Warren from Concord,
NC. Whaley, who was also the number one qualifier, drove his
Chevrolet Camaro to a 4.94 ET at 132 MPH clocking to defeat
Chris Warren Dodge Daytona’s 5.22 ET at 130 time. Hollis Reid of
Charlotte, NC and Dale Green of Mooresville, NC finished third
and fourth. Warren, driving his Pitts Repair Service Dodge,
also made it to the TOP Doors finals, were he defeated Todd Wike
of Winston-Salem, NC. The former track champion Warren ran a
5.24 ET at 132 MPH to stop the Chevrolet Nova of Wike. Todd
Comer of New London, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his Ford
Ranger Truck. Third generation drag racer Jonathan Gibbs of
Mooresville, NC picked up his first career Foot Brake division
win knocking off current PBM Performance/Erson Cams Foot Brake
point’s leader Tim Byrd. Gibbs, driving his Gibbs Race cars &
Parts Chevrolet Nova ran a 7.22 ET at 93 MPH to defeat Byrd of
Lexington, NC in his Chevrolet Monza. Shannon Waycaster of Kings
