Welcome on Board Transmission
Specialties and K&R "Pro Cube"
Mooresville Dragway would like to welcome on board two new supporters Transmission Specialties and K & R Performance Engineering. Transmission Specialties has over 30 years of hard work and dedication to excellence. They have became on the premiere manufacturers of high performance automatic transmissions, torque converters and related parts. Call 610-485-9110 or go to www.transmission-specialties.com for more information. For 2007 they have posted a $800.00 Gift Certificate to be given away to the third place TOP Eliminator finisher in the PBM/Erson Race Series at Mooresville.
We
would also like to welcome K & R Performance Engineering of
Cleveland, TN to Mooresville Dragway list of supporters. K & R
opened in 1992 with a new technologically advanced series
of delay boxes that would revolutionize drag racing electronics.
As racers and engineers, we saw a need for a more sophisticated
delay box. One box that could do multiple tasks; be easily set
even while wearing gloves; have large “backlit” displays that
could be easily read (day or night); having the ability to take
two “hits” at the tree; having a safety transbrake lockout
feature; and even incorporating a built-in timer that could be
used for throttle stop control, nitrous, etc. It was a success,
and accomplished in one devise, without the need to connect a
multitude of “boxes”. Since its early debut,
K&R has
continued to develop and add many more beneficial features while
also being able to package the unit much smaller; hence the
development of the
PRO-CUBE.
K&R is proud to hold
the U.S. Patents 5,839,419 and 5,855,196 for the
Pro-Stage
starting line control system, which is incorporated into every
PRO-CUBE delay box.
Over the years
K&R has added other quality products that
compliment the serious racers’ needs.
K&R is committed to
maintaining high standards and quality control by designing,
manufacturing and testing all it’s products in house along with
carrying other top quality products. So confident in all our
electronic components, we have backed them with a full 2-year
warranty. You can go to
www.krperformance.com or call 423-614-7778 for more

Mooresville Dragway Withdraws From Carolina Coalition; New Mooresville Series “Carolina’s Cup” To Debut in 2007!
For the upcoming 2007 season Mooresville Dragway will not be apart of the Carolina Coalition. This past year marked the fifth season for the four track series that has seen two races in “Race City” each of those years. Tommy Plott (TOP), Steve Alford (Foot Brake) and Dylan Stott (Junior Dragster) were crowned the series champions this past Saturday night in Sophia, NC at the “CC” banquet.
“This was a tough decision for me and Mike to make. Remember I was at Farmington when the Carolina Coalition was started some five years ago”, said Mark Joyce. When this series first started it had a lot of hype behind it and was very success for all. In the last few years it has lacked the luster it first had and we feel at this time that Mooresville needs to go in a different direction. Mike and I wish the other tracks the best, as they have great operators and racers alike.” Said Mark.
Former Rockingham Track Champion Mike Westmoreland said, “We’ll still try to work together with these tracks, as one thing that was learned, is a line of communication among tracks works better for all concerned. I think the world of Steve Earwood (Rockingham) and Alvin Dilldine (Piedmont); I’ve raced at these guys’ tracks
countless times. We’ll just do our own series called the “Carolina’s Cup” that will consist of two day races hopefully with four race weekend’s this year”. That’s to go along with two new “ BIG Money Foot Brake races, the “Labor Day weekend” Poor Boys & Gals Nationals and the Thanksgiving Leftover Nationals schedule for this year at Mooresville. This will make for lots of BIG MONEY up for grabs in “Race City USA” for 2007.
Full details on the Carolina’s Cup will be announced at the upcoming Drag Racing Expo in Greensboro, NC January 26-27. Also, keep posted to mooresvilledragway.com for the latest news.

First Champions Crowned for 2006 at Mooresville
Four Race PRO DRAG SERIES a Final !
Chuck Martin Captures TOP Eliminator, Paul Shell, Jr. Dominates Foot Brake and Wendell Bowie II Junior Champion Again
Probably the most misunderstood little series was a big hit this year. The four race (April, May, June & July) PRO Drag Series was a series within a series on Saturday night of these BIG MONEY race dates. There was a separate points just for these races and the first Mooresville Dragway champions of the year are; TOP Eliminator- Chuck Martin, Foot Brake- Paul Shell, Jr and Junior Dragster - Wendell Bowie II.
Martin, a former Mooresville TOP Eliminator champion, had to come from behind to take this year's bonus title. He won the May event and made five rounds at the last race to beat out "00" Charlie Doss and June's winner Tony Meltvedt.
What can you
say Paul Shell, Jr of Lexington, NC did what he had to do in Foot
Brake, WIN ! He and Joe Thompson had a tight race going, and
April's event
winner
Shell backed it up with a big win July 29th. The Nova racer
finished six points ahead of David Spaugh ( the man of many cars)
and Mopar ace Joe Thompson. This made Paul's first Mooresville
Dragway championship and he currently leads the
mooresvilledragway.com Weekly Race Series in Foot Brake.
Going into the final Pro Drag weekend Wendell Bowie and Ashley Strickland were tied in the Drake Coatings Junior Dragster division. A semi-final finish for Bowie and a big win back in May help the defending weekly Junior champion take his second Mooresville title. The East Coast Performance entry beat out a consistent Strickland by one point for the bonus Pro Drag title. Bowie, also leads the weekly mooresvilledragway.com Race Series in Drake Coating Junior Dragster.
The three class champions will receive a Gold card for 2007, a automatic spot on Team Mooresville Dragway, trophy and jacket.
THANKS to all RACERS that support the Friday-Saturday Night PRO Drag Series in 2006.

Charlie Doss, Paul Shell, Jr. and Wendell Bowie Claim 2006 mooresvilledragway.com Race Series Championships
Veteran
"00" Charlie Doss of Statesville, NC claimed his THIRD
Mooresville Dragway Doug Herbert Performance
TOP Eliminator championship beating out some top notch
competition. This reporter thought he hadn't ever won Roadster. BUT now ONE in his Race Tech Dragster. Can
you spell consistency, that would be Charlie Doss, even though
he did win a race he made rounds and that's what paid off Doss.
"Mr. Nice Guy" beat out Pro Drag/MD Summit Super Series champion
Chuck Martin of Connelly Springs, NC by seven points. Former MD
champion Robert Warlick of China Grove, NC gave it a shot, but
came up tied for third with Dan "the Man" Whisnant of Caser, NC.
Both "Door Car" drivers posted wins this year, but couldn't over
come Doss at the end. Summit Super Series champion Tommy Plott
finished fifth with his TSR Dragster. Early points leader
C.Jerry Smith of Troy, NC finished sixth, tied with a strong
Summit Super Series challenger Stuart Smith and Family. Mopar
"door man" Chris Warren of Concord, NC came home tied for eighth
with Roaster Man Tony Meltvedt of Concord, NC. Rounding out the
TOP "top 10" was the yellow flash Camaro of Lonnie Plyer from
Statesville, NC and "Young Gun" Travis Varner from Stanley, NC
in tied for tenth.

People may have not known who Paul Shell, Jr was when the 2006 Points season started at Mooresville, but they know now. He took his "famed" '66 Chevrolet Nova to two wins and one runner-up finish reroute to his first ever Foot Brake championship at Mooresville Dragway. The driver out of Lexington, NC beat out former Mooresville champion Chris Plott of Winston-Salem, NC by one point. "Cougar Daddy" did all he could do at the end, but came up one point short to Shell. "King Coug's finished five points ahead of arch rival David Spaugh from Advance, NC. Spaugh, who drove Tony Own's Mustang to a win on September 9th, also finished third in the Summit Super "No Box" at Mooresville. Early Foot Brake points leader Joe Thompson of Mooresville, NC finished tied with two time racer winner James Lockhart of Charlotte, NC for fourth. Last year's champion Jeff Flood of Advance, NC came in sixth with his "Vegazilla". On the charge Kelly Stevens of Hickory, NC came in a strong seventh in the final MD Foot Brake point standings. Even though he missed the last two races, veteran Robert Hamrick finished eighth in his Dodge. "Mopar Gal" Jamie Southards made a strong showing. placing a strong ninth in the final standings. Statesville, NC 's Gary Cline made a late season charge to take the tenth spot in his Chevrolet Camaro.
Whether this was the 2005/2006 Drake Coatings Junior Dragster champions last race, Wendell Bowie lII of Statesville, NC showed why he is the champion. Coming into the last MD points race Bowie had heat from former "CC"/ Mooresville champion Corey Leazer. Theses two veteran KIDS (anyway) paired up first round, with Bowie getting the nod over Leazer. The clincher was the second round loss by Corey. Wendell would go on to score his second Drake Coatings win of the year over Ashley Strickland from Concord, NC. Either way will see these two again maybe in BIG CARS. Another Junior moving up to the BIG CARS Ashley Strickland would end up second, five points behind Bowie. Leazer would end up tied with young gun Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC for fourth.
Statesville, NC's Justin Edmonds put in a late season charge to end up fifth in the final Drake Coating standings. "The Bad Kiddy" Larry Ratley from Thomasville, NC placed seventh. Tied for eighth was the Weddington Kids, Mitch and Kacey from Concord, NC and rounding out the Junior "Top 10" is Brittany Sprinkles, Kade Nichols & Tesz Powell.
