Paul Mosley Takes 5 second Race; Brother John Fur Wins 4 second Race. Overcash, Bryant and Hall Victorious on Saturday.
Inman, SC's Paul Mosley scored the BIGGEST win of his racing career, taking the Mooresville Dragway 3rd annual 5 second Shootout race. Even though rains came in the semi-finals and the money was split among the four drivers. The run for the glory and t-shirts was contested on Sunday. Mosley beat out Jeff Edmonds in his Dragster for the title, with last year's champion Michael "Spud" White coming home third. Daryl Griffin, one of the four left in, from Pittsboro, NC was a no show on Sunday. Mosley with his 406 cu.in. small block powered Dragster hit a .009 RT to hold off former Moorresville track champion Edmonds from Harmony, NC for the 5 title. Brother John Fur from Oakboro, NC collected his first Mooresville win, taking the 4 second bonus race title over "Gunslinger" Andy Beal from Thomasville, NC. In the TOP Eliminator action, rains also cut the race short, with W.L. Overcash, Tommy Plott and Daryl Griffin left in. The money was split and W.L. Overcash from Mooresville, NC end up with win thanks to T.P. who has already posted two wins earlier this year. Junior Bryant picked up the Foot Brake win over Larry Smith in an all MOPAR finals. Third generation drag racer Brooke Flynt-Hall picked up her first Mooresville Dragway Junior Dragster victory defeating Tyler Mosley in the finals.
Mosley Doubles Up for TOP Eliminator Win on Sunday; Paul Shell Takes Foot Brake and Nicole Phillips Win Junior Dragster.
"when your hot, your hot" and Paul Mosley was definitely that on Sunday. Not Only taking the 5 second title, but scoring the TOP Eliminator win. Mosley in his small block powered Dragster defeated the "Gunslinger" Andy Beal in his Undercover Dragster. "Paw Paw" Larry Pauley came home a strong third in his Chevrolet powered Mazda. Newly crowned Foot Brake champion Paul Shell, Jr. of Lexington, NC picked up the Foot Brake win defeating fellow Team Mooresville teammate K.Ray Alexander of Mocksville, NC. Gary Cline of Statesville, NC finished third in his Camaro. Sumter, SC's Nicole Phillips drove to her second MD win of the year defeating newly crowned Race of Champions winner Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC.

Tommy Plott Beats Son Chris for TOP Title; "Cougar Daddy" Wins Foot Brake, Dillon Winkler Takes Junior Dragster and Bill Crane Gets Real Street "Race of Champions" WINS
It doesn't happen very often, but father and son squared off for the Mooresville TOP Eliminator Race of Champions finals. Tommy and Chris Plott from Winston-Salem, NC, former track champions, did just that. Tommy in his Race Tech Dragster and son Chris in his "Foot Braking" Mercury Cougar. The "Coug's", who at one time Sunday was left in all four classes, left too soon on dad by .005. Giving "TP" and wife Sherry the TOP Race of Champions victory.
King Cougar wouldn't be denied a win Sunday, as he defeated Gary Cline of Statesville, NC for the Foot Brake Race of Champions win. Cline had Plott on the tree, but couldn't get there with his Camaro, as Chris took the win by .005 MOV.
Third place Drake Coatings Junior Dragster points finisher Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC scored the big Race of Champions win. Winkler defeated Sumter, SC driving ace Nicole Phillips for the title.
Big Bill Crane of Morganton, NC collected the Real Street Race of Champions win stopping Saturday's Foot Brake race runner-up Larry Smith of Sophia, NC.
