Kevin Lister and Travis Varner Lead MOPAR to TOP Wins! Deat Buckner and the World Cars Defeat Team Mopar; Tim Byrd and Mitchell Harkey Post First Wins of the Year

Mopar Madness ruled Mooresville Dragway this past weekend, with Kevin Lister and Travis Varner taking TOP Eliminator wins in their Chrysler powered entries.

In PBM/Erson Series action Saturday night Kevin Lister from Taylors, SC took his first Mooresville victory defeating Arthur Whitley of Albemarle, NC. Lister driving his Mopar powered Dragster was handed the win after Whitley red-lighted in his Chevrolet Monza. Brian Hicks of Pageland, SC in his Race Tech Dragster was the lone semi-finalist.

 Two time IHRA World Champion Deat Buckner of Madison, NC driving his Chevy powered Jaguar captured the special MOPAR’s VS. the World foot brake race Saturday night. Buckner defeated Wade Holbrook of Lexington, NC, in a repeat of last week’s regular PBM/Erson series Foot Brake finals. The World cars again beat out Team Mopar , as the only remaining Mopar entry was Bill Ritts of Kernersville, NC in his Dodge. Ritts was a semi-finalist along with Matt Finney of Kannapolis, NC in a Chevy Nova. Former Mooresville champion Tim Byrd of Lexington, NC took the win in the regular Foot Brake division. Byrd with his Chevrolet Monza defeated first time finalist Jeff Brockman of Concord, NC in his Ford Mustang. Eddie Young of Kings Mountain, NC and Myke Patterson of Concord, NC was both semi-finalist. Ten year old Mitchell Harkey from China Grove, NC collected his first Drake Coatings Junior Dragster win defeated former champion Corey Leazer of Mooresville. Leazer broke after his semi-final win over Brittany Sprinkles of China Grove, NC and couldn’t make it back for the finals against Harkey.

 Bill Crane of Morganton, NC captured his fourth Real Street win of the year at Mooresville with his Chevrolet Malibu.

 On Sunday, 2006 Doug Herbert Performance Rookie of Year Travis Varner from Stanley, NC in his Mopar powered Dragster picked up the Top Eliminator win.  Sixteen year old Varner stopped veteran Steve Keller from Mooresville, NC in his Chevrolet Nova for his first win of the year. Lonnie Plyer of Statesville, NC was the lone semi-finalist.

Chris Plott of Winston-Salem, NC posted his fourth Mooresville Foot Brake win of the year defeating David Spaugh of Advance, NC. “Cougar Daddy” Pott ran a 6.88 ET at 96 MPH to stop the Dodge entry of Spaugh. Bill Ritts of Kernersville, NC and J.W. Ray from Winston-Salem, NC both placed third and fourth in their Mopar entries. Linn Reid of Troutman, NC took the Real Street win over Robert Ellison from Sophia, NC for the “street legal” cars. Brian Mimken from Stem, NC won the Drake Coatings sponsored “Slant Six” division over Judy Drake from Matthews, NC. Mimken in his ’74 Dodge Dart ran a 8.05 ET at 83 MPH to stop the ’62 Plymouth Valiant of Drake.
