The wheel standing, manual transmission aces of the Classic Gear Jammers where on hand at the final points race for 2007 at Mooresville. Taking the”all stick shift” class win was Jeff Smith of Providence, NC with his 1967 Chevrolet Corvette. Smith defeated a red-hot Will Hull of Mt. Airy, NC in his Chevrolet Camaro for his first “Dirty MO” win. David Gambrell of Lexington, NC and Larry Leazer of Mooresville, NC were both semi-finalist. Les Davis of Concord, NC drove his 1981 Chevrolet Camaro to the “Second Chance Gear Jammer ” class win over a red-lighting Dane Pearson from Spartanburg, SC.
In final PBM/Erson race series action last year’s TOP Eliminator champion “OO” Charlie Doss of Statesville, NC scored his first division win of the season in his Race Tech Dragster. Doss ran a 4.89 ET on a 4.89 Dial-in at 139 MPH to stop first time “Dirty MO” finalist Gary Ingold of Raleigh, NC in his Race Tech Dragster. Many time IHRA World Champion Steve Furr of Harrisburg, NC was the lone TOP Eliminator semi-finalist.
Former Mooresville champ James Lockhart of Charlotte, NC scored a big final points race win with his 1970 Oldsmobile 442. Lockhart finished a strong third in the season ending PBM/Erson race series point standings. He was giving the win as “Fast” Eddie Young of Kings Mt., NC red-lighted on the start in his 1979 Ford Mustang. Veteran foot braker Jackson Purser of Monroe, NC came away with another semi-final finish with his 1969 Mercury Cougar.
Chase King of China Grove, NC returned to the Junior Dragster wars picking up the Drake Coating class win over Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC. King ran dead-on the dial-in (8.87 on an 8.87) to collect the final points race win over Winkler. The runner-up finish by Dillon secured him a spot in the MJ Shootout race and Team Finals. Ashley Strickland of Concord, NC also secured her a “TOP 8” position in the Drake Coatings point’s series with a semi-final round finish.
Jeff Berry of Stanley, NC driving a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro scored his first “street legal” Real Street win defeating Tommy Brooks of Salisbury, NC in a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro. Colt Buckner of Winston-Salem, NC was the lone semi-finalist with his Chevy powered 1974 Jaguar.

year old David Dean of Waxhaw, NC picked up the WAR of the Drag
cars win this past Saturday night at Mooresville Dragway. Dean
driving his “Fire Child” Undercover built Dragster defeated
veteran Lee Cropps from Dobson, NC in his Chevrolet Camaro for
his second Dirty MO win of the year. He ran a winning 4.83 ET at
137 MPH to stop the 5.57 ET at 123 MPH of Cropps in the finals
of the WARS. Steve Hester of Hickory, NC and Danny McManus of
Pageland, SC both finished in the semi-finals.
The veteran Steve Hester went on to win the TOP Eliminator division of the PBM/Erson Race Series at Mooresville Saturday. He defeated nineteen year old Tisha Wilson of Kannapolis, NC for his first ever “Dirty MO” Top Eliminator victory. Hester ran a 4.88 ET at 140 MPH I his Chevy Powered Dragster to stop first time TOP finalist Wilson in her Chevy powered Dragster. Mike Gross, Jr. of Charlotte, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his Dragster. In the race for the PBM/Erson TOP Eliminator championship Billy Varner, Jr. of Stanley, NC still holds onto a slim one point lead over Dan Whisnant of Caser, NC with four races remaining.

Foot Brake champion Paul Shell, Jr of Lexington, NC scored a big
win Saturday night in the PBM/Erson race series defeating Brian
Holbrook of Lexington, NC. Shell had fought his way back in
contention for a second straight Mooresville Foot Brake
championship with this big points race win. He ran a 5.83 ET at
114 MPH with his Chevrolet Nova to stop the 7.12 ET at 96 MPH
charge of young Holbrook in his Chevrolet Camaro. Multi-time
Foot Brake champion James Lockhart of Charlotte, NC was the lone
semi-finalist in his 442 Oldsmobile. Shell of Lexington, NC has
taking the points lead by two points over Tim Byrd from
Lexington, NC.
Young gun Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC scored his second Drake Coating Junior Dragster win of the season defeating Ashley Strickland of Concord, NC. Winkler, who earlier this year won the Div.9 IHRA Pro Am Junior event at Mooresville, ran an 8.57 ET at 72 MPH to hold off Strickland. The runner-up finish by Ashley has moved her just two points behind current Drake Coatings point’s leader Mitchell Harkey of China Grove, NC. First time Dirty MO racer Alston “Cooter” McSwaim of Norwood, NC was the junior semi-finalist.
Michael Goodnight of Landis, NC scored his second straight Real Street division win defeating young gun Colt Buckner of Winston-Salem, NC. Goodnight driving his 1970 Chevrolet Nova ran a 7.70 ET at 88 MPH to defeat the eighteen year old Buckner in his Chevy powered 1974 Jaguar. Third generation racer Blake Leazer of Mooresville, NC was third in his 1990 Ford.

past Saturday night at Mooresville Dragway. Take his second
Quick 8 Pro Modified win was Buzz Varner of Graham, NC behind
the controls of Don Plemmons 104/WTQR 1963 Chevrolet Corvette.
Varner ran a 4.10 ET at 173 MPH to defeat Ronnie “the Shoe” Hood
of Lenior, NC for his second “Dirty MO” win of the year. Steve
Vick of Mocksville, NC had set the pace in qualifying with a
4.08 ET at 177 MPH was defeated in the semi-finals on a hole
shot to Hood. While on the other side of the ladder Rod Houck of
Clemmons, NC was defeated by his team mate Varner in the semi’s.
In PBM Performance Parts/Erson Cams racing series action Dale Green of Mooresville, NC picked up the TOP Eliminator class win over Chris Plott from Winston-Salem, NC. Green, driving his C.D. Green Trucking Chevrolet Vega ran a 5.93 ET at 113 MPH to pick up his first “Dirty MO” win over a red-lighting Plott in his dad’s Chevy Powered Race Tech Dragster. Gail Whisnant of Newton, NC and Chuck Martin from Connelly Springs, NC both driving Dragsters were semi-finalist. In the battle for the TOP Eliminator championship, Billy Varner, Jr. of Stanley, NC continues to hold onto first with five races remaining. Varner leads veteran Dan Whisnant of Caser, NC by two points and with his runner-up finish Chris Plott is four points back in third.
Two time IHRA world champion Deat Buckner of Winston-Salem, NC scored his second Mooresville Foot Brake win of the year defeating Kelly Stevens of Hickory, NC. Buckner, in his Chevy powered 1974 Jaguar, used a better reaction time of the start to stop the 1970 Chevrolet Camaro of Stevens. Reigning PBM/Erson Foot Brake champion Paul Shell, Jr. of Lexington, NC placed a strong third and moved into a tied for second in the season point standings. Tim Byrd of Lexington, NC holds a slim one point lead over Shell, Jr. and Wade Holbrook of Lexington, NC.
Third generation drag racer Justin Edmonds of Statesville, NC picked up his second Drake Coatings Junior Dragster win of the year Saturday night. Edmonds driving his Wayne’s Automotive Dragster ran an 8.58 ET at 67 MPH to stop another third generation drag racer Brittany Sprinkles of China Grove, NC. Tyler Mayhew of Indian Trails, NC was the lone semi-finalist. Mitchell Harkey of China Grove, NC took back over the points lead in the Drake Coating Series. Harkey now has a three point lead over Taylor Davis of Thomasville, NC and Corey Leazer of Mooresville, NC.
