   Chuck Martin Finally Gets FIVE second Win and Takes 4 second Title too! Slammin Sammy Hollingsworth and Josh Miller Runner-ups

Veteran drag racer Chuck Martin of Connelly Springs, NC finally picked up win that has avoided him for years, the 5 second Shootout this past Saturday at Mooresville Dragway. Martin driving his WSC powered Race Tech built Dragster had been the five second bridesmaid on several different occasions over the past few years. He used a .009 green light reaction time off the start to better the .002 red-light foul start of Greenwood, SC’s “Slammin” Sammy Hollingsworth in his small block powered Miller Dragsters. Chuck a former Mooresville champion ran a 4.80 ET at 141 MPH to collect the victory over Hollingsworth in his four second Dragster. David Barr of Asheville, NC was the lone semi-finalist in his 4.50 running Race Tech Dragster. Martin also captured the bonus all four second group win defeating UNCC college student Josh Miller in his fast running Race Tech Dragster.

"Fire Child" David Dean Takes Race Tech Race Cars TOP 16 Dragster Shootout; Defeats Stuart Smith in Finals

  Young gun David Dean of Waxhaw, NC won the biggest race of his racing career taking the Race Tech Dragster Shootout race for this year’s TOP 16 Top Eliminator point’s finishers at Mooresville. Dean ran a 4.74 ET at 143 MPH in his “Fire Child” Dragster to stop veteran Stuart Smith of Hickory, NC for the $9,000.00 “Slip Joint” Race Tech Dragster. Charlie Doss of Statesville, NC and Travis Varner of Stanley, NC was semi-finalist.

"Yeah, Baby Yeah" Lauren Freer Takes Her 4 second Ride to the TOP Eliminator Victory Over Frankie Marshburn. David Spaugh Drives Larry Cooper's Chevy To te Foot Brake Win Over Jonathan Surratt

  Twenty year old Lauren Freer of Lewisville, NC picked up the Dirty MO TOP Eliminator win in her Undercover Dragster defeating Frankie Marshburn of Mooresville, NC in his Race Tech Dragster. The recent NHRA Super Comp winner at Bristol, TN Freer, used a better reaction time and ran a 4.89 ET at 136 MPH to stop a quicker Marshburn. David Spaugh of Advance, NC and Joey Randall of Shelby, NC were TOP semi-finalist.

 “It an easy being greasy” David Spaugh of Advance, NC drove Larry Cooper’s ’70 Chevrolet Chevelle to his second Foot Brake of the year Saturday night. Spaugh used a .007 reaction off the start to stop Jonathan Surratt’s Charlotte, NC based ’69 Chevrolet Chevelle. He turned the Dirty MO 1/8th mile in 6.28 seconds at 107 MPH to better Surratt’s 6.48 ET at 105 MPH time. Bill Husdon of Salisbury, NC in his “Short Bus” Chevy Corvair and David Spaugh in the families Ford Mustang were semi-finalist.

 On Sunday the quickest car at the “Dirty MO” David Barr’s Race Tech Dragster picked up the TOP Eliminator win defeating David Spaugh in his Ford Mustang. The veteran Barr from Asheville, NC ran a 4.55 ET on a 4.55 Dial-in at 150 MPH to stop the deadly seven second Ford of Spaugh. Everett Short of Greer, SC in his Mullis Dragster was the lone semi-finalist.

"Cougar Daddy" Shines Big On Sunday, Taking Foot Brake ShootOut Win Over Brian Holbrook. Plott and Michael Spaugh Make Up Regular Foot Brake Finals

 2007 Top Eliminator champion Chris Plott of Winston-Salem, NC and the “Hit Man” Michael Spaugh of Advance, NC split the money in Sunday’s Foot Brake finals. Eddie Young of Kings Mountain, NC and Tim Alexander of Mocksville, NC were Foot Brake semi-finalist. “King Coug” Plott drove his ’70 Mercury Cougar earlier in the day to the bonus TOP 16 Foot Brake shootout win. Made up of all the top Foot Brake points’ finishers, Plott defeated Brian Holbrook of Lexington, NC in his 1973 Chevrolet Camaro. “Cougs” used a .006 reaction time and ran dead-on to hold off Holbrook.

Samantha Sweet Makes It a Clean Sweep in Junior Dragster action. Takes 1st Win Over Justin Edmonds, MJ Shootout Win Over Dillon Winkler and 3rd "W" Against Tyler Mosley

 “It was a SWEET” weekend for seventeen year old Samantha Sweet of Mooresville, NC taking all three Junior Dragster race wins. Sweet start her 3-peat on Saturday defeating Justin Edmonds of Statesville, NC running a 8.32 ET at 76 MPH. Zach Grant of Kernersville, NC and Brad Hollingsworth of Greenwood, SC were semi-finalist. In the special MJ Printing TOP 8 shootout for the top point’s finishers on Sunday, she scored win number two. Having placed third in the regular season Drake Coatings point standings Samantha defeated number eight point’s finisher Dillon Winkler of China Grove, NC. She ran a 7.99 on a 7.99, dead on the dial run to stop the “Iceman” Winkler. The UNCG freshman college student would then go on to take win number three stopping Tyler Mosley of  Spartanburg, SC. Sam used a great .007 reaction time to hold off the “Dirty MO’s” Memorial Day Iron man winner Mosley.
