Chad Tilley Takes Lambert's "Junkyard Dog" Chevy to Final Outlaw Mad Dawg Race Win Over Rocky Raynor's "We Fly Together" Corvette

"Hired Gun" Chad Tilley drove David Lambert's Wayne's Automotive to the final Mad Dawg win of 2008 at the Dirty Mo. Tilley consistently went down the track in the "Junkyard Dog" Cavalier to his second dawg win and Lambert's first.

Two of the more dedicated Outlaw Mad Dawg racers Chad Tilley of Lexington, NC and Rocky Raynor of Greensboro, NC squared off in the final race of 2008 at the “Dirty Mo” Mooresville Dragway.  Tilley a former Mad Dawg winner driving David Lambert’s “Junkyard Dog” Chevrolet Cavalier was up against former two time Dawg race winner Raynor in his “We Fly Together” ’63 Chevrolet Corvette. Tilley who normally drives his Stroupe built Pontiac Grand Am had just recently sold his motor was glad to be back in the action with soon to father-in-law Lambert’s Chevy. Coming from the number five qualified spot, Tilley defeated number one qualifier Chris Rini from New York in his ATI Performance Products Dodge Stratus in round one. Chad clicked off a .001 reaction time along with a down the track run off a 4.25 seconds to stop the back pedaling “yank invader”. Rini making his first Mad Dawg appearance, paced the field with a super 4.16 ET 174 MPH in his Pat Musi powered “HemI’. He came back later in a shakedown run and clicked off a lightin quick 4.12 ET; we look to see more these guys next year.

“CT”, in the semi-final round clicked off another “00” reaction time to beat out most recent dawg winner Joel Douglas of Statesville, NC in Anthony Sherrill’s Chevy Cavalier. Chad ran a 4.21 ET with his Buck powered entry to the losing 4.25 ET of Douglas.

On the other side of the ladder Rocky defeated good friend “Diamond” Jack Gaddy of Burlinton, NC driving his championship winning Big Dog Camaro.  Raynor sporting a brand new Sonny Leonard motor got lucky when Gaddy went red by .009ths and wasted a 4.18 ET to the “Rocks” tire shake effort. The finals saw the Rick Hendricks’s of Durham Chevrolet backed entry of Raynor, Harris and Dunlap go red on the start by one thousandths to Tilley’s .015 green light start. Chad then motored through to a 4.22 ET at 171 MPH time to collect his second Mad Dawg win and car owners David & Rhonda Lambert’s first.

Thanks to all participants at this last Mad Dawg event for the year, even though it wasn’t but eight cars, there was eight good one. Thanks!
