CONGRATULATIONS to the 2009 Soul Brotherhood WINNERS!

Landus Dalton- TOP Eliminator

Craig Morrison - Soul Brother Quick 16

Mike Treadway - Foot Brake

Stacy Hall - Renegades

A true Mooresville Dragway tradition “the Soul Brotherhood Race” returned this past Labor Day Monday for a whole new generation to witness. A good time was had by young and old alike that attended this Monday Mooresville tradition. Inducted in the Mooresville Dragway Hall of Fame at this year’s Soul Brother reunion was its founder G.W. Leazer, and long time starting line man Richard “Slim” Harris. It was Leasers’ foresight to have such a great event back some 30 years ago and now Jody is continuing with its rebirth. “Slim” the man that has kept it smooth and good for years on the dirty MO starting was honored for his thirty years of service. The Mooresville Hall of Fame will become an annual thing each Labor Day Monday @ the Soul Brotherhood race and reunion.

Next Generation Racers....Dalton and Keller in TOP Finals

Landus Dalton of Statesville, NC and Scottie Keller of Mooresville, NC, whose families have been coming to Mooresville for years, got to experience to “Soul Brotherhood” tradition as they made it to the TOP Eliminator finals. Dalton with the quicker Chevrolet Nova was dialed in on a 5.60 dial-in as Keller was in on a 6.99 dial-in with his Chevy Nova II. Lil Keller had the better reaction off the start, but broke it out going a 6.989 ET breaking out one thouth to young gun Dalton with his 5.64 winning ET. Lonnie Plyer of Statesville, NC in his Chevrolet Camaro was the semi-finalist.

Morrison and Extreme, Jr Make Up All Soul Brother Quick 16 Finals

Dap Morrison’s son Craig Morrison of Statesville, NC and Greensboro, NC’s “Mr. Extreme” Rico Garner’s son Alston “Extreme, Jr” Garner squared off in the finals of the “ALL Soul Brother” Quick 16 finals. Craig in his Morrison/Carsons Motorsports Chevrolet Malibu Wagon took that win coming from the number sixteen spot over “Extreme. Jr’s” Chevrolet Nova who had qualified eleventh. Number five qualifier Harrill Vandenburg of Troutman, NC in his Chevrolet Corvette and number six qualifier Kippy Dobbins of Harmony, NC in his Chevy Camaro was the semi-finalist.  Statesville, NC’s Joe Johnston was the number one Soul Brother Quick 16 qualifier with a super 5.55 ET in his 1967 Chevrolet Nova.

Treadway and Finney Square Off In Foot Brake

Salisbury, NC’s Mike Treadway picked up the Foot Brake win defeating Matt Finney of China Grove, NC. The “Finney Man” went red by three thouth at the start giving Treadway the big Soul Brother Foot Brake win with his Ford Mustang.

Stacy Hall and Charlie Richards Go @ in Dirty MO Renegades Finals

In the “one shot nitrous wanders” the Dirty MO Renegades action it was number two qualifier Stacy Hall of Chesne, SC and number one qualifier Charles Richards of Gastonia, NC in the finals. It was a match up Hall’s Lenco transmission/Fulton 468 small block TM Corvette  and Richards power glide /one carbed 632 big block TM Chevrolet Corvette. It would be Hall’s Vette going a 4.40 ET to take his first Dirty Mo Renegade win over the 4.42 ET of Richards. Mike Westmoreland of Oak Ridge, NC and Mike White of Arden, NC was semi-finalist.

Dirty MO Renegade Qualifying:

1-Charlie Richards 4.432, 2- Stacy Hall 4.435, 3- Mike Heath 4.478, 4- Mike Westmoreland 4.519, 5- Ronnie Gardner 4.521, 6- Mike White 4.556, 7- Tim West 4.670, 8- Timothy Siler 4.720, 9- Donnie Gibbs, Sr.- 4.977, 10- Rich Atkins 5.153

In the friendly grudge action the “Played or Get Played” team and “Baby Boy” McClauley was a little two early as the “we fly together” team and Rocky Raynor won going away. Now in the grudge between Lil Gibbs and his Gibbs Race Cars Nova and the Nova of Rocky “we fly together” Raynor was a different story. Both in sharpe looking nova’s when to stage in race one, but Rocky jumped the lights and “Lil” Gibbs got the “W”. But “Extreme” said back it up. So Gibbs did from the first return road. So they went at it again. This time the pro tree fail green on both sides and Rocky taking the “W”. So, now with it even the two squared off one last time. It would be a better jump from the start that would secure Rocky the little grudge win over young gun Gibbs.

Thanks to these guys! and everyone else that made this tradition happen. As the Soul Brotherhood race and reunion will return in 2010 on Labor Day Monday at the world famous Mooresville Dragway.
